Four fixes for
clearer navigation.
Version 0.1.1 corrects four reviewed issues in the Free core and Pro add-on. Update Free first, then Pro. This remains a beta for staging evaluation.
Fixed in 0.1.1
- Sticky navigation: clicked headings clear the measured TOC height; long lists and short viewports use inline contents.
- Pro rail: occupied theme sidebars and other content keep the TOC inline. Layout changes trigger a fresh check.
- Automatic placement: hidden and excluded containers, including template/code content affected by WordPress paragraph formatting, no longer receive the automatic TOC.
- Pro assignments: templates remain assigned while a content type is temporarily unavailable, including across unrelated or stale-form saves.
Free, implemented
- Automatic before-heading, after-first-paragraph, and end-of-article placement.
- Heading-level selection, threshold gating, and opt-in public content types.
- Five presets, width, alignment, spacing, typography, theme inheritance, and custom colors.
- Manual block and shortcode with one TOC owner per article.
- Per-post placement, exclusions, and independent TOC labels.
- Existing-ID preservation, collision-safe generated IDs, and duplicate-ID diagnostics.
- Collapse, numbering, section tracking, header offsets, and basic sticky contents.
- Native WordPress settings and post controls; informational PRO tabs.
Pro, implemented
- First-match rule priority with All/Any conditions and an evaluation report.
- Minimum, layout, and shared-template overrides.
- Shared templates assigned by content type or rule.
- Validated JSON template import/export and a last-import undo snapshot.
- Progressive desktop rail and a searchable, nonmodal mobile contents panel.
Validation
212 WordPress assertions plus 23 HTML5 output checks passed after installing the exact ZIPs on WordPress 7.1.2, PHP 8.5.4 and MariaDB 11.8.6. All 24 packaged files matched the reviewed source.
The supported minimum, WordPress 6.5.13 / PHP 7.4.33, and WordPress 7.1.3 / PHP 8.3.33 each passed 191 WordPress assertions plus 23 HTML5 checks in isolated Playground environments. These repeat the same checks across versions.
Plugin Check 2.1.0 completed 29 static and five runtime check groups for each edition: zero errors, with only the existing Free warning for the unfilled contributor username. The source report documents the isolated checker dependency adapter and PHP/WASM test-harness limits.
41 Chromium navigation checks and 12 jsdom interaction checks passed. Representative sticky, sidebar, mobile and keyboard layouts were inspected. All six website pages and the download archives passed their structure and integrity checks. Repeatable tests and current results are in the source bundle.
Automated checks are evidence for this beta, not WordPress.org approval or a guarantee of every theme and plugin combination. Broad browser, page-builder, translation, and multisite checks remain release work.
Outside this release
- Automatic import or migration from another TOC plugin.
- A Pro payment flow, commercial terms, subscription management, license server, or update service.
- Certified compatibility with all themes and page builders.
- Guaranteed search rankings, rich results, or accessibility/legal compliance.
WordPress.org preparation
The Free package has a GPL-compatible license, bundled readable source, local assets, capability and nonce checks, sanitization, output escaping, and no premium implementation locked by payment. Pro is distributed separately.
Before submission, add the owner’s actual WordPress.org contributor username, publish the project’s support and security contact details, check the final live URLs and slug availability, and review the chosen theme/editor and screen-reader behavior on the target staging site. The WordPress Plugins Team decides acceptance.
